Accessibility Statement

Effective Date: January 1, 2025  ·  Last Updated: May 2026

Jesus in the Circle is committed to ensuring that our website and digital content are accessible to everyone — including individuals with disabilities. We believe that every person, regardless of ability, deserves to experience the love and truth of Jesus Christ, and that starts with making sure our digital presence is welcoming and usable for all.

"We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience. We actively work to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards."

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. Jesus in the Circle aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Our current conformance status is partially conformant — meaning some content does not yet fully meet all standards, and we are actively working to address known issues.

Measures We Have Taken

Jesus in the Circle has taken the following steps to support accessibility across our website:

  • Ensured sufficient color contrast ratios across all custom-coded sections to meet WCAG AA standards
  • Added descriptive alt text to all meaningful images throughout the site
  • Used semantic HTML elements (headings, lists, landmarks) to support screen reader navigation
  • Implemented proper ARIA labels on interactive elements including donation buttons and navigation
  • Ensured all form elements have associated labels for screen reader compatibility
  • Designed all custom code blocks to be keyboard-navigable with visible focus indicators
  • Used readable font sizes and scalable units throughout all custom sections
  • Ensured all links have descriptive, meaningful text
  • Ran regular accessibility audits using Google Lighthouse to track and improve our scores

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some areas of our website may have limitations due to the constraints of our hosting platform (Squarespace) or third-party integrations:

  • Third-party donation processing — Our ConvergePay payment modal is controlled by a third-party provider and may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. We have contacted ConvergePay to request accessibility improvements.
  • Squarespace platform elements — Some navigation, template, and built-in components are generated by Squarespace and may not be fully customizable for accessibility.
  • Video and media content — Some older media content may not yet have captions or audio descriptions. We are working to add these going forward.
  • Heading structure — We are actively reviewing and correcting heading hierarchy across all pages to ensure sequential, logical order.

We are committed to resolving these issues as quickly as possible and prioritize accessibility in all new content and features we add to the site.
